Black List is a bangin’ series starter with non-stop suspense, intense sexual tension, beautifully built characters, and plenty of fascinating twists. Main character Maddy is a super smart woman with a tumultuous personal life and virtually no common sense when it comes to being in danger. From threat to threatened, she pushes back continually and refuses to back down—even when it ups the stakes and danger for her. She is the perfect spitfire match for Jace. A man without a country or a home of his own, Jace’s history is top secret and must stay that way. When he meets Maddy his entire world is thrown into chaos, and he is left trying to navigate the dangers surrounding his mission as well as his big feelings for this confounding and stubborn woman. I love how author Lynn Raye Harris built these characters and develops the plot line, leaving much to be explored in further novels while also delivering an outstanding romantic suspense.
I thoroughly enjoyed the audiobook version of this tale. Narrator Joe Arden is one of my favorite male narrators—he has a smooth and easy voice with fabulous delivery and really brings Jace to life. Narrator Emma Wilder is a new one for me, and I love how she presented Maddy’s character—really bringing the nuances of her personality to audio life. Her voice is also easy to listen to. These two really brought the passion and the power out in the story, and I can’t wait to see where the series goes next!
